Gannett Broadcasting's Roger Ogden to Retire
Business Wire, May 11, 2007
MCLEAN, Va. -- Roger Ogden, president and chief executive officer of Gannett Broadcasting and senior vice president of Design, Innovation and Strategy at Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE:GCI), today announced plans to retire in early July.
"Gannett has always been home base for me throughout my career, and I appreciate all that I've been able to do here," Ogden said. "I've always said I'll know when it's time and that time has come. Going out as head of the best broadcast group in the USA and returning to my home in Colorado makes this difficult decision easier."
Craig Dubow, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said: "I want to thank Roger for his years of dedicated service to Gannett and to the broadcasting industry overall. We wish him all the best in his retirement."
Ogden, 62, has been president and CEO of Gannett Broadcasting since July 15, 2005 and in March, 2006 added the title of senior vice president of Design, Innovation and Strategy.
He began his career with Gannett at Denver station KBTV-TV (now K*USA-TV) in 1967, where he became news director in 1978 after a brief stint at Louisville, KY's WLKY-TV. He became general manager of a KCNC-TV, a non-Gannett station in Denver, and in 1995, moved to NBC as president and managing director of NBC Europe.
In 1997, Ogden returned to Gannett as president and general manager of K*USA-TV, becoming a senior vice president of Gannett Broadcasting in 1999.
