SmartSound and Sony Creative Software Reach Patent License Agreement

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- SmartSound Software, Inc., the leading provider of music and scoring technology for film and video professionals, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Sony Creative Software to license SmartSound's patented automated music scoring processes for use in Sony Creative Software's Cinescore soundtrack creation product line.

The terms of the agreement give Sony Creative Software a non-exclusive license to SmartSound's patents 5,693,902 and 5,877,445, which allow for the automatic editing of music to fit user-specified lengths. SmartSound's patented technology has been used to develop innovative soundtrack creation solutions such as its award-winning Sonicfire[R] Pro product line. SmartSound's patent license agreement covers Cinescore, as well as any current or future products, which bundle or integrate Cinescore and its component technology modules.
