Business Wire, May 16, 2007
WALTHAM, Mass. -- International experts, corporate leaders, academics and non-governmental organization (NGO) specialists will convene at Universidad Pontifica Comillas in Madrid, Spain, on June 18 for the third annual Bentley Global Business Ethics Symposium sponsored by State Street Corporation. Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility: Different Sides of the Same Coin? A Comparison of European and North American Perspectives will run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Keynote speaker Jean-Francois Schock, senior managing director, Strategic Growth Group, State Street Global Advisors - Europe/Middle East/Africa, will open the symposium. The luncheon program will feature a keynote address by Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, president of DaimlerChrysler Spain.
The closing keynote speaker is H.I. Latifee, managing director of Grameen Trust, part of the Grameen[TM] organization, and a leader in the field of microfinance and poverty alleviation. Grameen's founder, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and the Grameen Bank, were jointly awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, for helping groups break out of poverty through micro-credit.
"Now in its third year, the symposium's global focus and reach is underscored by its European location," says Tony Buono, professor of management and sociology, and coordinator of the Bentley Alliance for Ethics and Social Responsibility. The Alliance, along with the Bentley Center for Business Ethics, has worked closely with State Street to develop this unique, international symposium. The 2005 and 2006 symposiums were hosted on the Bentley campus.
The day-long program will also feature a series of panels with experts discussing compelling corporate social responsibility (CSR) topics, from managing business ethics and CSR programs to corporate governance.
Symposium registration is $140 USD and includes a continental breakfast, lunch and closing reception. To register - and for more information on the program - go to www.bentley.edu/symposium.
