IT Lecture Series at Penn State Great Valley Focuses on Software

MALVERN, Pa. -- Penn State Great Valley and the Innovative Technology Action Group will present a pair of programs as part of their new IT lecture series. The first installment, "Software: The Great Enabler or Disabler?" is on Wednesday, May 30, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features speaker Jeffrey Voas, director of systems assurance for SAIC. Voas has been highly active in the software engineering research community for more than 15 years. He was the IEEE Reliability Society president from 2003 to 2005, and co-founded a company called Cigital Inc., which was listed in the Inc. 500 for two years in a row as one of the fastest-growing small companies in the United States.
The second installment, "Videogame Development: The Fun Side of Technology," set for Wednesday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., features Laird Malamed, head of production for Activision, Inc., the second largest third-party publisher of video games. Some of the company's more popular games include Call of Duty, Spider-Man and Tony Hawk's Prop Skater game series. Among other things, Malamed previously worked as sound editor for Sony Pictures Entertainment and LucasFilm Ltd.
Both presentations, which are free and open to the public, will be held in the Safeguard Scientifics Building's Warren V. Musser Auditorium on the campus of Penn State Great Valley, 30 E.
