Mormons and Evangelical Christians Square off During May 20 Friendly Debate at Mariners Church in Irvine

-- Large Crowd from Both Churches Expected at Free, Community Event --

Mariners Church:

WHAT:     Leading apologists from Southern California's evangelical
          Christian and Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) communities will
          discuss the differences and similarities between the two
          faiths - and take questions from the audience - during a
          free May 20 live dialogue at Mariners Church in Irvine.

          Mariners and the LDS Newport Beach Temple are less than a
          mile apart on Bonita Canyon Road, and have a history of
          partnership.

          Hosted by Craig Hazen, director of the Christian apologetics
          program at Biola University, the live dialogue will feature:

          -- Greg Johnson - founder of "Standing Together," a
             nonprofit organization dedicated to building ties between
             Christian and Mormons in Utah.

          -- Robert Miller - professor of religious understanding at
             Brigham Young University (BYU).

          Johnson and Miller will also examine their unique,
          seven-year friendship, formed through mutual participation
          in similar events around the world.

WHEN:     Sunday, May 20, 2007 - 7 p.m.
          NOTE:  Print and broadcast media will be admitted into the
          Worship Center.

          Mariners Church representatives will be giving LDS visitors
          a tour of the Mariners campus at 6 p.m.
