AUSTIN, Texas -- Spiceworks[TM], Inc., the provider of the industry's first free ad-supported IT management software, today announced that PC Magazine has awarded version 1.5 of the Spiceworks IT Desktop its 'Editors' Choice' designation. Receiving 4.5 out of 5 possible stars, the Spiceworks IT Desktop received one of the highest ratings of any network management software reviewed by the publication.
Commenting in his review of version 1.5 of the Spiceworks IT Desktop software, Rob Lipschutz, PC Magazine's Lead Analyst for Business and Network said:
"Overall, I was impressed with this intuitive utility. It provides many of the capabilities small-business IT administrators need, letting them gain a more detailed view of their networks, keep track of issues, and seek help from a convenient community resource...it's an excellent tool for a smaller business -- and paying nothing for it adds to its appeal."
The Spiceworks IT Desktop is designed for small and medium organizations with networks of up to 250 devices. Core product features include the ability to automatically discover, inventory, monitor, track and report on the hardware and software running in a network as well as integrated help desk and IT expert community collaboration capabilities. The free Spiceworks software is supported by displaying relevant ads on topics that are useful to IT professionals.
"The PC Magazine reviews lab is one of the best and most reputable in the world and it's a tremendous honor for the Spiceworks IT Desktop to receive the magazine's 'Editors' Choice' designation," said Scott Abel, founder and CEO of Spiceworks. "The tens of thousands of dedicated Spiceworks users who have helped us to design, test and continually improve the product deserve a large part of the credit for helping us achieve this prestigious award."
