Appointment Advances Company's Growth in Digital Media Search and Distribution Market
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- PodZinger (www.podzinger.com), the world's most powerful audio and video search engine and online advertising network, today announced that Tom Wilde has joined the company as its chief executive officer (CEO). Given his rich background and expertise with major media, search and advertising networks, Wilde is ideally positioned to lead PodZinger as the company embarks on its next phase of growth and development, including continued product development and the creation of key business and media partnerships.
PodZinger launched in January 2006 as the first commercial offering out of BBN Technologies' Delta Division in Cambridge, Mass. BBN is an advanced technology solutions firm known for its networking expertise, including the development of ARPANET, the forerunner of the Internet. Led by PodZinger's founder and board member, Alex Laats, BBN's Delta Division was created to commercialize BBN technologies and push them out as new and innovative market offerings.
"PodZinger is a great success story for BBN and Delta Division. We productized BBN's world class speech-to-text technology and applied it to the rapidly emerging market for online audio and video content in order to create a consumer venture start-up that's now one of the most recognized Web 2.0 companies in the marketplace," said Alex Laats, president, Delta Division; co-founder and board member, PodZinger. "With Tom now on board, we're looking forward to more great successes as he takes the company to the next level. Tom's extensive background in search and advertising is just the ticket to make that happen," said Laats.
Wilde brings more than 15 years of search, online advertising and consumer Web business experience to PodZinger. Serving in senior management roles at top Internet technology firms including MIVA, Lycos, FAST and NameMedia, Wilde has developed an extensive reputation for building and growing consumer online businesses. At FAST, Wilde drove the creation of FAST's flagship search product, FDS; at Lycos, he created Lycos Insite, pioneering the Internet's first private-label pay per click network; and, at MIVA, Wilde managed the company's North American business unit, adding $20mm in revenue in his first year. Wilde's deep knowledge of and experience with the online industry will serve as a vital enhancement of PodZinger's offerings to consumers, advertisers and media companies.
"Search is the operating system of the Internet - and by leveraging superior search technologies such as PodZinger, media companies can now maximize both the volume and the value of their digital assets," said Wilde. "As the consumer appetite for digital content grows, PodZinger's offer has become ever more powerful for content owners and publishers alike so they can realize ROI from their audience and content assets. Given PodZinger's rich pipeline of product development and world class technology, I'm thrilled to be joining the company at this exciting time."
