LeCroy Announces Protocol Test Card for PCI Express 2.0
Business Wire, May 21, 2007
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- LeCroy Corporation, a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial protocol solutions, today announces a new Protocol Test Card (PTC) for verifying and testing conformity with the new PCI Express 2.0 specification. LeCroy's new PTC has been developed in close collaboration with Intel Corporation, and is specifically designed to meet industry requirements for next generation development tools for PCI Express. This new tool will be used by validation and test engineers to check for functionality of add-in cards, systems, and chips using PCI Express 2.0.
"Intel is excited that LeCroy is committing to delivering a Protocol Test Card (PTC) for PCI Express 2.0," said Jim Pappas, Director of Technology Initiatives at Intel Corporation. "Intel believes PCI Express 2.0 is a critical technology for servers and the PTC has historically proven to be critical in providing system level test and debug capabilities for PCI Express."
The combination of a PCI Express 2.0 Protocol Test Card and LeCroy's PCI Express Gen2 Protocol Analyzer gives validation and test engineers a suite of tools to ensure compatibility with other PCI Express products in the market.
"Working closely with Intel keeps us focused on the advancing requirements of the PCI Express development community," said Carmine Napolitano, General Manager, LeCroy. "Delivering high-quality tools will help speed PCI Express 2.0 development, and enable new high-performance products to become available within the next year."
The PTC Card is easy to use and works at both PCI 2.0 and 1.x speeds. Simply insert the card into a PCI Express socket and test PCI Express host or device for conformity to specifications through a software application.
"The Protocol Test Card is an important new tool for validating conformity with the 2.0 PCI Express specification," said John Wiedemeier, Product Marketing Manager, LeCroy. "The combination of a PCI Express 2.0 Protocol Test Card and LeCroy's PETracer[TM] Gen2 Summit Protocol Analyzer gives validation and test engineers powerful tools to help identify and solve issues in new product designs."
LeCroy protocol analyzers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development tools. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports, which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time.
