Business Wire, May 21, 2007
New Reporting Center Feature and Double-Take Application Manager Enhancements Allow Customers to Continually Improve Data Protection
SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Double-Take[R] Software (NASDAQ: DBTK) today announced significant developments to its core Double-Take product which include the new Double-Take Reporting Center feature and SQL and Exchange enhancements to the existing Double-Take Application Manager feature. These advancements to Double-Take demonstrate the company's ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive data protection and recovery software to its more than 10,000 customers worldwide.
Double-Take Reporting Center Allows Administrators to Take-5
The new Double-Take Reporting Center offers customers a logical way to manage their data protection strategies and "Take-5" by using five key reporting capabilities. These include the ability to:
1. Centrally collect statistics about a Double-Take environment;
2. Analyze the information;
3. Report the results to others in the organization;
4. Predict future protection effectiveness; and
5. Decide what actions to take regarding a data protection strategy.
"Customers' business-critical applications require a feature that can monitor and report on hardware, software and network utilization," said Rhoda Phillips, storage research manager at IDC. "Features like Double-Take Reporting Center provide customers with a useful tool to employ tasks such as configuring alerts and customizing reports to monitor the effectiveness of their data protection strategies."
Using the Double-Take Reporting Center, Double-Take customers can create and view the following reports:
* Performance Reports - View server and Double-Take replication performance by server or by group of servers over time;
* Configuration Reports - List detailed configuration information about Windows Servers running Double-Take;
* Utilization Reports - See statistics about file system, memory and network utilization on Double-Take-protected servers;
* Status Reports - Examine Double-Take protection status and qualify service level agreements (SLAs) using "Protected Time" reports; and
* Dashboard Reports - Aggregate multiple reports into a single contextual view for real-time analysis.
Double-Take Application Manager
Also announced today are enhancements to the Double-Take Application Manager feature that include new data protection options for Exchange 2007 and SQL Server. Double-Take Application Manager provides a unified console for automation of application protection configuration, monitoring and management. The newest capabilities provide advanced Exchange cluster support options; Exchange cluster to stand-alone server support; SQL named instance protection; many-to-one SQL database failover; and file services support with auto-discovery of shared data.
"As customers' server environments grow to meet escalating requirements for their business-critical applications, it's important for us to provide solutions that accommodate those changes," said Bob Roudebush, director of solutions engineering at Double-Take Software. "With its enhanced support, Double-Take Application Manager does just that - it gives customers the flexibility to adopt new technologies like Exchange Sever 2007 and architect highly-scalable database systems running on SQL Server 2005, while ensuring the highest levels of recoverability."
Double-Take Application Manager also now also offers enhanced connection statistics during automated restore; controls to add NetBIOS, Host SPN's and share information to DNS failover; and the ability to update multiple DNS servers at failover time. These updates add to the numerous capabilities provided in the first two releases of the feature (see Double-Take Software Announces Double-Take Application Manager and Double-Take[R] Software Unveils DOUBLE-TAKE APPLICATION MANAGER for SQL at EDUCAUSE 2006).
