Infinity Resources Inc. Chooses Alpha Retail Technology's Enterprise Retail System for Store Operations, Merchandise Management and Point of Sale
Business Wire, May 24, 2007
CALABASAS, Calif. -- Infinity Resources Inc., the parent company of the world's largest DVD retailer, DVDPlanet, is implementing Alpha Retail's comprehensive Retail Management and Point of Sale solution, AlphaERS. The new system provides DVDPlanet with the capability to handle high customer throughput in their brick and mortar stores and to quickly fulfill their growing Internet order volume.
DVDPlanet's inventory management is based on cyclical trends and inventory is cycled dependent on factors unique to the media industry. AlphaERS manages complex products and replenishment profiles and includes an automatic ordering algorithm that takes into account varying factors associated with each title such as release date and seasonal demands.
"With the incorporation of innovative sales forecasting and replenishment functionality contained in AlphaERS, we will be automating a process that was previously prone to error and very time consuming," states Randy San Miguel, CIO of Infinity Resources, the parent company of DVDPlanet. "We looked at a lot of systems but nothing came close to being able to provide a solution tailor-made for Infinity Resources Inc.'s DeepDiscount.com and DVDPlanet retail stores like AlphaERS. Partnering with Alpha Retail will allow us to successfully replace our legacy systems in time for our new store opening scheduled for June 2007."
To complete the enterprise retail solution, AlphaERS also integrates with Infinity Resources' IBM I-Series backend systems, which manage Infinity Resources' financial, catalog inventory and other business applications. AlphaERS will provide Infinity Resources with complete, real-time visibility across their multi-channel enterprise and the capability to manage a large number of SKUs.
Taking into account the high volume of turnover for the retail industry, Infinity Resources also required a user-friendly POS that would allow quick and accurate training of its store associates while reducing the total number of keystrokes needed to complete a transaction. Associate training will be significantly reduced and the easy to use POS workflow will increase customer throughput and satisfaction.
"We look forward to our continued partnership with Infinity Resources, improving their customers' total in-store and Internet experience by having the desired merchandise on hand and available for sale," said Dr. Simon Cotter, VP Technology for Alpha Retail Technology.
