Welch's Selects Prescient to Manage Its VMI Solution
Business Wire, May 29, 2007
Long-Time Prescient Client Adds Hosting Services
WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Prescient Applied Intelligence, Inc. (OTCBB:PPID), a leading provider of supply chain and advanced commerce solutions for retailers and suppliers, today announced that Welch's, headquartered in Concord, Mass., has selected Prescient to host and maintain its entire vendor managed inventory (VMI) program.
Welch's, the world's leading producer of juices, jams and jellies, has been using Prescient's VMI software since 1999 to replenish regular turn merchandise and promotional items with eight trading partners. The company services over 100 distribution centers with 65 stock keeping units (SKUs).
Increasingly, retailers expect their suppliers to take on activities that were traditionally their responsibility, especially warehouse replenishment. In anticipation of conducting VMI with more trading partners, Welch's thought long and hard about whether to continue managing its Prescient environment in house, or outsource it to Prescient.
"Prescient hosting services will provide us a cost effective solution to an internally operated installation," said Donna Rosentrater, Senior Manager of Application Development at Welch's. "We have a long history with Prescient and opted to have them host our VMI solution so we can concentrate our technical resources on our core business systems."
"In today's competitive market, suppliers have to be ready to say yes when their trading partners ask them to participate in a VMI program," said Jane Hoffer, president and CEO of Prescient. "Prescient is the industry leader in VMI. From our award-winning software to our knowledgeable staff to our hosted solutions, we have VMI programs to fit any business and any budget."
