DFJ, Draper Triangle and DFJ Gotham Ventures Host First Annual East Coast Venture Challenge

University Entrepreneurs to Compete for $250,000 in Seed Venture Funding
NEW YORK -- Leading early-stage venture firms DFJ and its affiliates Draper Triangle and DFJ Gotham today announced the first ever DFJ East Coast Venture Challenge. Entrepreneurs from all eight Ivy League schools, New York University, and Carnegie Mellon University will have the opportunity to compete in the event which will be held on May 21st at Columbia Business School. The winning team will receive $250,000 of venture financing and free office space for up to six months.
"After two successful business plan competitions on the west coast, we are excited to bring this opportunity to budding entrepreneurs from leading East Coast schools," said Tim Draper, Managing Director of DFJ. The East Coast Venture Challenge is an opportunity for young people to garner support for their world-changing ideas."

The Venture Challenge organizers will work with participating universities to identify and invite the most promising teams to compete. The winning team will receive a minimum of $250,000 in seed stage funding to be disbursed to the team upon the company's incorporation.

Investors, entrepreneurs and service providers will be in attendance, providing all competitors the opportunity to find funding and other resources.
