ReadSoft Integrates AccuRev SCM with Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server to Manage Agile Software Development
Business Wire, May 30, 2007
Microsoft Certified Partner Selects AccuRev as the Foundation for its Best-of-Breed ALM Strategy
LEXINGTON, Mass. -- AccuRev Inc. today announced that ReadSoft AB, a leader in document automation technologies, has standardized on AccuRev([R]) for process-centric software configuration management (SCM). ReadSoft, a Microsoft Certified Partner, chose to integrate AccuRev with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server to manage multiple product families in its Windows-based Agile, distributed and parallel development environment.
AccuRev was chosen to be at the center of ReadSoft's best-of-breed application lifecycle management (ALM) strategy after an exhaustive evaluation of SCM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) vendors. AccuRev was selected for its powerful built-in support for parallel development and refactoring, ease of integration and administration. Additionally, ReadSoft benefits from AccuRev through:
* Working from the Change Package level - All configuration item changes related to a feature or bug fix can be freely compared, propagated and rolled back, while merges are fully supported between arbitrary streams of development and graphically tracked.
* Controlling openness and isolation - Each user works in a private stream of development, virtually eliminating the need for private task branches and shelving. It is trivial to control whether a team or an individual works in openness (automatically receives the latest changes from its project) or in isolation (works on a stable configuration of the source code).
* Managing components - AccuRev support for componentization through symbolic links and crosslinks, as well as full support for moving and renaming files and directories, facilitates a higher degree of reuse at ReadSoft.
* An ability to easily adapt to changes - Whether projects are re-planned, features re-scheduled or teams rearranged, AccuRev easily manages project changes without development disruption. ReadSoft is also able to effortlessly switch between continuous and stepwise integration depending on the circumstances.
Tomas Lundstrom, Configuration Management Manager, ReadSoft, says, "We felt it would be a daunting task to deploy an entire ALM suite, but were unable to find one good enough in all categories of the lifecycle to justify its purchase. The integration between AccuRev and Visual Studio Team Foundation Server was done quickly due to both products' well documented APIs. We now benefit from an innovative software configuration management solution from AccuRev to meet the challenges of modern software engineering, while Microsoft provides us with the collaboration and integration platform to work in our Microsoft Visual Studio.NET Framework development environment."
"Microsoft is pleased to see the integration between AccuRev and Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server," said Terry Clancy, business development manager of the Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) Program at Microsoft Corp. "This integration helps the customers of ReadSoft AB benefit from some of the unique advantages in AccuRev and Visual Studio Team System. We look forward to continued integration with AccuRev through its membership in the Visual Studio Industry Partner Program."
