Randy Brown to Speak on Gaming and Game Development at Tsinghua University
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Virtual Heroes Inc.(VHI), a leader in advanced learning technologies, today announced that chief technical officer Randy Brown has been selected to speak at the International Workshop on OpenMP (IWOMP) at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The workshop (http://www.iwomp.org), to be held June 3-7, is the premier opportunity to learn more about OpenMP, obtain practical experience and interact with OpenMP users and developers. The workshop will also serve as a forum to present research ideas and results related to OpenMP.
OpenMP is an Application Programming Interface (API) widely accepted as a standard for high-level shared-memory parallel programming. OpenMP is a portable, scalable programming model that provides a simple and flexible interface for developing shared-memory parallel applications in Fortran, C, and C .
Brown's presentation will feature the key functionality drivers that push the need for multi-core, multi-threaded game engines and development (such as Epic's Unreal [R] Engine 3) along with exciting new opportunities that MP systems will provide.
Brown has an MS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BS in Computer Science from Oklahoma State University. Prior to joining VHI, he developed interactive 3D graphics software at Amoco, Digital Equipment, Ex Machina, Data General, SAS Institute, Southpeak Interactive, and the Research Triangle Institute of North Carolina. Brown has directed scientific, oil exploration, graphics library, visualization, training, education, simulation, and gaming content for a wide range of commercial, government, and private organizations.
VHI is perhaps best known for its work with the America's Army Training Platform architecture and the Adaptive Thinking and Leadership "ATL" application for the JFK Special Warfare Center and School. Today, the company provides advanced learning technology solutions and services for a number of organizations in federal systems, healthcare and commercial industries.
