University of Michigan Health System Taps MEDSEEK and Healthwise to Meet Consumer Demand for Streamlined Web Information

Business Wire, May 7, 2007

SOLVANG, Calif. -- MEDSEEK, a leading provider of enterprise e-health solutions with 600-plus hospital clients around the country, announced today that it has been selected by the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich., to standardize the diverse websites of its three hospitals and multiple medical departments onto one enterprise web portal platform. The new interactive UMHS site will more effectively promote its services. It also will feature new evidence-based medical information from Healthwise to help consumers manage their health care needs.

UMHS will deploy both SiteMaker E, MEDSEEK's rapid-development enterprise content management system (CMS), to build and manage all system websites and the Healthwise([R]) Knowledgebase accredited online consumer health content resource. Together, the two solutions will be delivered via a sophisticated MEDSEEK tool called the Channel Manager Module that aggregates data from the health institution's various health services to one home web page. The result is a more robust Health System Web site that cross promotes specific departments, programs and services, while offering targeted health news, newsletters, health tips, support groups, physicians, classes, and related web pages in accordance with consumers' preferences.

"Our website is the consumer's virtual front door to our institution," said Kris Talley, Web Project Manager at UMHS. "MEDSEEK's advanced web technologies combined with the most current and reliable clinical content will help us give our consumers an easy way to learn about our services and make informed care decisions. For our employees who publish information on the web, SiteMaker E will be easy to use and provide the workflow management that we've been looking for."

For the phased implementation, UMHS will use the Channel Manager Module to create an integrated corporate Web site and then migrate its medical department Web sites onto the same CMS development platform.

"Health care organizations are turning to MEDSEEK for their complex web integration and management needs as they face mounting pressures to meet consumer-driven health care demands, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiencies and patient satisfaction," said Mike Drake, MEDSEEK's CEO. "We are pleased the prestigious University of Michigan Health System is investing in our expert web applications to optimize enterprise data exchange and system interoperability to increase care performance and maintain growth."
