C-COR Maximizes Network Capacity with Introduction of Optical Upgrade to OM2700 Amplifier
Business Wire, May 7, 2007
OM2700 Optical Upgrade Converts RF Amplifier to Nodes for Additional Capacity and Reduction in Network Upgrade Costs
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- C-COR Incorporated (NASDAQ:CCBL), one of the broadband industry's leading innovators in 1GHz transmission equipment, is bringing to market an optical upgrade that transforms installed C-COR trunk and bridger amplifiers into optical nodes. The company will showcase the new product in booth #1329 at NCTA's The Cable Show, May 7-9, Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV.
Upgrading existing trunk and bridger amplifiers to optical node functionality provides a versatile way to reduce service group size for increased narrowcast capacity. The Opti Max[TM] 2700 Optical Upgrade was created in direct response to the needs of network service providers seeking cost effective ways to expand capacity of their existing networks with low cost and minimal service disruption.
The Opti Max[TM] 2700 Optical Upgrade is already being deployed in the US cable market, effectively reducing the cost and complexity of network upgrades and leveraging existing network architecture to provide additional network capacity. It is compatible with C-COR's latest 1GHz Flex Max(TM) 901e amplifier and its predecessors, the FlexNet(TM) 700 and 800 series and Flex Max(TM) 900 and 901 models. The OM2700 enables 1GHz bandwidth expansion in order to increase forward capacity and future flexibility of the network and incorporates Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) transmitters, providing more return channels through existing fiber.
"Our close working relationship with our customers enables us to support their changing network requirements as they build the most competitive and sustainable networks possible," said Bill Dawson, vice president, Access Strategy, C-COR. "The Opti Max[TM] 2700 Optical Upgrade is one more critical element of our product line, designed to squeeze more capacity from existing network configurations. It improves our customers' return on investment by enhancing performance without forklift replacement of key parts of their infrastructure."
C-COR is the industry's leading supplier of 1GHz transmission equipment that provides cable operators a cost-effective solution to increase forward capacity and ensures future flexibility on existing HFC networks. C-COR's line of integrated 1GHz access products includes headend optical transmitters, segmentable nodes, and amplifiers.
