Nuance Voice Control Tops the Handango Yardstick Best Sellers List for the BlackBerry Platform
Business Wire, May 8, 2007
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN), a leading supplier of speech and imaging solutions, today announced that Nuance[R] Voice Control ranked as the best selling BlackBerry[R] title based on units sold from all Handango storefronts for the first quarter of 2007. The ranking is based on the First Quarter 2007 edition of the Handango Yardstick, a quarterly report on the state of the mobile content industry released by Handango last week.
Nuance Voice Control, a comprehensive mobile search and messaging service that is driven entirely by natural voice commands, is available for several BlackBerry devices, including the BlackBerry 7520, 7100i, 7130e, 8703e, 8100 and 8800. The subscription-based system speech-enables advanced smartphone features in BlackBerry devices such as creating calendar entries, dialing a contact, playing music, obtaining driving directions, and searching the Web for business listings, news, weather, stock quotes, sport scores and more. Users can also dictate email messages and have them instantly transcribed on their smartphone, ready to send. Nuance will demonstrate the service in Booth #728 at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium, the largest BlackBerry wireless event of the year, taking place this week in Orlando, Fla.
"When BlackBerry users visit Handango, they are looking for new tools and applications that can enhance the overall BlackBerry experience," said Michael Thompson, vice president and general manager, telco, search and communications, Nuance. "It's a pleasure to see that Handango customers have discovered Nuance Voice Control to improve the productivity and usability of their smartphones. From surfing the Web or reading the day's top news, to sending email without typing while they're on the go, Nuance Voice Control helps BlackBerry users enjoy the convenience of spoken commands that are easier and faster than typing or navigating complex menus."
