Business Wire, Nov 12, 2007

Evaluation Based on Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq: JAVA) today announced that Sun has been positioned in the leaders quadrant in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Web Access Management, 2H07(1). Gartner places companies in the Magic Quadrant based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision.

"Sun has strong identity management solutions. For example, Sun Java(TM) System Access Manager offers a complete set of features, flexible pricing to our customers, and the ability to quickly and securely extend business capability by making internal and partner resources available to the enterprise through federated single sign-on (SSO)," said Jim McHugh, vice president, Software Infrastructure, Sun Microsystems.

With customers such as BC Hydro, the Business Industry Political Action Committee (BIPAC), the Government of Norway, and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, Sun Java System Access Manager offers key features that make it the first and most complete identity-based solution for managing authentication and authorization on the Web, Java, federated, and Web services environments. Key features include: Web SSO, federated SSO, and Web services security. Scalable to hundreds of millions of users, Sun Java System Access Manager makes it easier to deliver online access without compromising security.

Sun Java System Access Manager is a key component of Sun's identity management portfolio, which includes Sun Java System Identity Manager, Sun Java System Federation Manager, and Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition. In addition to today's announcement, Sun's identity management portfolio has also received other industry awards and recognition. Earlier this year, Gartner positioned Sun in the leaders quadrant in its Magic Quadrant for User Provisioning(2) and Information Security Magazine named Sun Java System Identity Manager 7.0 a "Hot Pick"(3).
