MIAMI -- Dolphin Stadium and BelAir Networks, the leading provider of mobile broadband mesh network solutions, today announced that Dolphin Stadium was named a winner of the prestigious InfoWorld 100 for its mobile broadband wireless mesh network, supplied by BelAir Networks. These annual awards honor projects that demonstrate the most innovative use of cutting-edge technologies to further the project's business goals.
Dolphin Stadium, home to MLB's Florida Marlins, NFL's Miami Dolphins, the FedEx Orange Bowl and the 2010 Super Bowl, deployed a mere 29 wireless nodes from BelAir Networks which covers more than two million square feet from the 78,000-seat stadium and bowl to the 22,000 space parking lots. The powerful multi-service wireless network is utilized for a wide variety of applications at the stadium including the world's largest POS system under one roof supporting food and beverage service in the stands and on-site restaurants as well as high-speed Internet access that allows reporters to file stories easily and quickly from the press box. In the future, the network will also support stadium video security cameras.
"We are extremely honored to be a recipient of the InfoWorld 100 Award," said Tery Howard, Vice President of Information Technology, Miami Dolphins, Ltd. and Dolphin Stadium. "There was a huge team effort behind the creation of this network from both Dolphin Stadium and BelAir Networks and we are thrilled with this prestigious recognition of our hard work. We will continue to make great strides in enforcing our technology leadership in the sports arena."
Dolphin Stadium has become the technology leader in the world of professional sports. In addition to its award-winning wireless network, the stadium is the proud owner of professional sports' largest high definition (HD) video boards to support its action-packed football, baseball, and soccer games.
"BelAir Networks is proud to have our carrier-grade technology showcased in the competitive environment of cutting-edge venues like Dolphin Stadium," said Jim Freeze, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Alliances for BelAir Networks. "Dolphin Stadium's requirement for a high-capacity mobile broadband solution was a perfect match for BelAir Networks' product line.
