Business Wire, Nov 14, 2007
ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA([R])) today announced that Cisco Systems Chairman and CEO John Chambers will deliver a keynote address at the Leaders in Technology Dinner, to be held at the 2008 International CES. Produced by CEA, the 2008 International CES, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, will return to Las Vegas, January 7-10, 2008.
Chambers' address will kick off the annual Leaders in Technology Dinner, honoring the top policymakers instrumental in furthering technology innovation. The dinner is slated for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, at The Venetian.
"John Chambers is an industry pioneer with a clear vision for the future of consumer technology. Under Chambers' direction, Cisco continues to serve as the lead provider of networking solutions to connect consumers, businesses and government leaders across the globe," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. "We are thrilled to have John speak at the Leaders in Technology dinner, as this group of policymakers is the voice responsible for the protection and progression of technology innovation."
John Chambers was named CEO of Cisco Systems in 1995 and chairman of the board in 2006. Under his leadership, the company has grown its revenues from $1.2 billion to approximately $35 billion. Through its ground-breaking innovations in advanced networking technologies and the acquisitions of Linksys and Scientific Atlanta, Cisco continues to help shape and build today's connected life.
Prior to joining Cisco, Chambers spent eight years at Wang Laboratories and six years at IBM. In January 2006, Chambers was named "Best CEO in America" in the "Telecommunications, Data, Networking" category by Institutional Inventor magazine. Chambers is known throughout the industry for his visionary strategies and entrepreneurial leadership style.
The Leaders in Technology Program at CES allows high-level public policymakers and technologists to experience a dynamic industry that supports $600 billion in retail worldwide, and provides information and insight to assist officials in evaluating federal policies that affect the consumer technology industry.
