NUANCE'S DICTAPHONE HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS DIVISION SHOWCASES MARKET-LEADING RADIOLOGY SOLUTIONS AT RSNA
Nuance Highlights Expanded Suite of Award-Winning Radiology Documentation and Communication Solutions from Dictaphone, Commissure and Vocada
Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN), a leading supplier of speech solutions, is today announcing various milestones achieved by its Dictaphone Healthcare Solutions division specific to the radiology industry at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual conference in Chicago. Also at the show, Nuance is showcasing several new radiology industry technologies, integrations and partnerships, as well as turning a spotlight on customers who will be presenting to conference attendees (see media alert).
The Dictaphone Healthcare Solutions division of Nuance has long been committed to providing best-in-class solutions to the radiology industry. In 2007 alone, the Company reached the following milestones:
* Continued market adoption for PowerScribe for Radiology with more than 1,100 speech recognition systems sold to date to organizations ranging from single-physician private practices to large-scale health delivery networks
* Secured new customers including Columbia University Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Lahey Clinic
* Estimated that with PowerScribe for Radiology , Nuance is saving the industry more than $200 million per year in transcription costs
* Expanded the Company's PACS/RIS Extension Partner (PREPP) program to encompass more than 50 unique partners
* Strengthened the Dictaphone Healthcare Solutions radiology team and product offerings via landmark innovations and the acquisitions of Commissure and Vocada in October 2007
The addition of Commissure will help Dictaphone enhance patient care, speed report turnaround time, reduce costs and improve overall operational efficiency across the radiology industry. Commissure provides solutions to improve the day-to-day tasks associated with the interpretation and delivery of diagnostic imaging exams for radiology departments of all sizes. Commissure brings to Dictaphone a suite of robust software solutions that focus on the way diagnostic exams are ordered, interpreted, documented, shared and analyzed.
Vocada's Veriphy[TM] solution, delivered through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, helps diagnostic departments in hospitals achieve greater patient safety, better patient outcomes and higher staff productivity by bringing efficiency and verification to the communication process surrounding critical test results. Vocada's technology is a natural extension to PowerScribe for Radiology , Dictaphone's market leading radiology and pathology reporting solution, and will help healthcare provider organizations avoid risks associated with delays in communicating critical patient findings. Currently, the process for delivering and managing critical test results is manual, disjointed, inefficient and prone to error.
"This year's RSNA conference provides the first opportunity for Dictaphone, Commissure and Vocada to greet the industry as a newly united team," said Peter Durlach, senior vice president, marketing and product strategy, Dictaphone Healthcare Solutions division of Nuance. "Together, we will continue to deliver market-leading, speech-driven clinical documentation and communication solutions that help healthcare provider organizations reduce costs, improve patient care and safety, and increase financial reimbursement."
