Section Front Presents Comprehensive Coverage in Concise User-Friendly Magazine Style
WASHINGTON -- washingtonpost.com, an award-winning news and information Web site synonymous with the world of politics today introduces a newly designed section front housing the site's comprehensive political content in a concise, user-friendly magazine style. The new design enhances readers' ability to navigate within the politics page, in addition to providing a new URL, PostPolitics.com, that quickly directs readers to the section front.
"In recent months we have launched many new content sections and tools that enhance readers' ability to follow the 2008 election--such as "The Trail," "Campaign Tracker" and the "FactChecker"--adding to the comprehensive political news and information for which washingtonpost.com is known," said Jim Brady, Executive Editor and Vice President of washingtonpost.com. "To make it easier for readers to browse the breadth of our political coverage, we chose to adopt a more user-friendly and visually enhanced page design."
PostPolitics.com embodies a sleek and engaging magazine feel. The new format establishes recognizable content sections, optimizing navigation for readers as they return to the site again and again. In addition, the page will prominently feature an in-depth political story each day, accompanied by photos or videos.
"As our technology capabilities flourish and our political content expands, there has been a proliferation in the sheer amount of stories available on washingtonpost.com," said Elizabeth Spayd, washingtonpost.com Politics Editor. "Our new design allows us to highlight both washingtonpost.com's depth and breadth of coverage. We will draw upon our vast well of resources to offer a daily in-depth political feature, while also providing a clear and consistent guide to our daily coverage in all political arenas."
On PostPolitics.com, under the daily feature, political content will be broken down into consistent and recognizable sections, including "Campaign 2008," "Inside Washington," "Special Reports," "Multimedia," "Columns & Blogs," "Polls" and "Headlines from our Partners." At the top of the page, readers will find links to popular election reporting from "The Trail," washingtonpost.com's daily diary on the 2008 Campaign, and Chris Cillizza's political column "The Fix".
In addition, PostPolitics.com features a new section, "Talk/Interact" which highlights interesting comments from washingtonpost.com's political "Live Discussions" and forums, and lists upcoming opportunities for readers to interact online with washingtonpost.com's political staff.
