Guardian Establishes Strategic Advisory Board to Develop Strategies for Market Positioning of Existing Products, Distribution Channel Relationships and New Products Development

HERNDON, Va. -- Guardian Technologies International, Inc. (OTCBB:GDTI), innovators of groundbreaking threat detection technology with critical and immediate applications for the homeland security and healthcare markets, has announced the formation of a new Advisory Board comprised of internationally recognized scientists and industry professionals to provide the Board of Directors and management with strategic guidance on product development and market insight regarding Guardian's global marketing and sales initiatives.
Each of the experts brings diverse and far-reaching expertise in the science and application of image informatics across a broad range of industries. The Company has appointed as initial members of the Advisory Board the following H.K. (Bernie) Huang, Ph.D., Ronald B. Schilling, Ph.D., and Fredrick L. Roder, Ph.D.
The Advisory Board will provide strategy and counsel to Guardian's Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors as the Company readies its proprietary technologies for commercialization in the medical and homeland security marketplaces. Guardian is breaking the existing technology paradigms in the field of imaging informatics through the development of unique products that vastly improve the diagnostic value and imaging effectiveness of currently available medical and security imaging devices, such as x-ray, MRI and other systems.
The Advisory Board will focus on strategic positioning of new Company products, future product development, industry trends, and potential research collaborations with third parties. When fully assembled, the Board will consist of six members, who will serve in one-year terms.
Ronald R. Polillo, a Director on Guardian's Corporate Board and an internationally respected expert in aviation security technologies, will chair the Advisory Board.
Ronald R. Polillo
* Mr. Polillo is a recognized expert in Aviation Security Technologies with 33 years of government service and industry experience in progressively senior positions. Mr. Polillo led the FAA Security Equipment and Integrated Product Team to plan, acquire and deploy Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) for the screening of checked bags in the U.S. at all commercial airports. He also served as the Aviation Security Laboratory Manager at the FAA, where he accelerated the development of explosive detection technology mandated by a presidential report and by the U.S. Congress. He also served as the FAA Technical Center Management Systems Division as Manager. Additionally, Mr. Polillo has served as Special Projects Manager at the TSA Transportation Security Laboratory, where he allocated test lab space and set priorities for Testing &Evaluation and Certification Testing of various prototypes and production models for explosive detection systems and devices.
H.K. Huang, Ph.D.
* Dr. Huang is a pioneer in picture archiving and communication system (PACS) research. He developed the PACS at UCLA in 1991, and the hospital-integrated PACS at UCSF in 1995. He has taught at Georgetown University, University of Iowa, UCLA, UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the University of Southern California. Dr. Huang has been Visiting Professor in many leading universities around the world, and a Board Member in leading medical imaging manufacturers. He is currently Director, Division of Imaging Informatics at the Dept. of Radiology at the University of Southern California, among several other academic and research positions.
Ronald B. Schilling, Ph.D.
* Dr. Schilling brings more than four decades of scientific and executive experience at leading healthcare and high-tech companies, including Motorola, General Electric Medical Systems, RCA Research Laboratories and others. He served as senior vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Medical Systems in 1987, overseeing a team that increased company profits from $85 million to $400 million over an 11-year period. He is currently president of RBS Consulting Inc., a firm specializing in strategic planning for biomedical imaging companies and not-for-profit organizations, and is a general partner at Mi3, a venture capital investment fund for the imaging-related sector of the healthcare industry.
Fredrick L. Roder, Ph.D.
* Dr. Roder is a pioneer and authority on explosives countermeasures for the homeland security industry with decades of experience and leadership in both government and private industry. His areas of specialization have included radiological and other technologies for identification of novel and advanced security technologies addressing domestic and foreign security requirements, leading to the development of new products. His recent professional background includes service as Manager and Deputy Manager for the Science & Technology Directorate of the United States Department of Homeland Security. In recent years, Dr. Roder has also worked for the Federal Aviation Administration, where his duties included development of baggage security programs.
