Citrix Opens Door to SMB Resellers
Business Wire, Oct 1, 2007
No More Special Memberships or Certifications Required to Resell Its New SMB Remote Access Solution in North America
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in application delivery infrastructure, today announced two significant developments in its North American channel programs that will greatly expand reseller opportunities into small and mid-size businesses (SMB). The changes accompany the release of Citrix Access Essentials[TM] 2.0, its Web-based solution for SMBs eager to place their company's computer programs in the hands of 5 to 75 remote or mobile users.
First, VARs and IT consultants throughout North America no longer need to join Citrix's partner program to resell Access Essentials, nor do they need to undergo special certifications. The company has concluded that the software's wizards and built-in automation make it simple and intuitive enough for any Windows-savvy reseller to roll out. Nevertheless, Citrix advises resellers to take optional eLearning courses for hands-on familiarity and additional insights into the product's advanced capabilities.
Equally as important, Access Essentials resellers now have a streamlined contact point for pre-sales assistance, trial software, order fulfillment and general sales enablement through Ingram Micro Inc., the exclusive distributor for the product in North America.
"At $249 per user including Microsoft Windows Terminal Server CALs, partners have been clamoring for Access Essentials, but shied away from the upfront investment we asked of them prior to making the first sale," acknowledged Al Monserrat, vice president of worldwide channels, strategy and sales operations for Citrix. "The product's sheer simplicity, demonstrated in over 7,000 accounts in just two years, led us to reconsider our channel policy and open it up to the very capable Windows partner community." For larger, more demanding Windows application delivery requirements, resellers should consider Citrix Presentation Server[TM] by pursuing the appropriate membership and certification tracks in the Citrix[R] Solution Advisor program.
"We're anticipating a wave of new resellers attracted by the news," stated Jodi Honore, vice president of vendor management at Ingram Micro. "And we are well prepared to handle the oncoming rush with dedicated tools, business development and licensing specialists."
"The broad base of Windows Terminal Server resellers have much to gain from the nicely integrated package," said Robert Deshaies, vice president for the U.S. Partner Group at Microsoft. "Access Essentials' added convenience, security and administrative ease brings simplicity to customers looking for smaller remote access solutions."
