APC-MGE Announces Price Increase on UPSs, Replacement Batteries and Battery Systems

Business Wire, Oct 10, 2007

WEST KINGSTON, R.I. -- APC-MGE, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced a price increase for its uninterruptible power supply (UPS), replacement batteries and specialized data center battery solutions due to significantly higher lead costs. The price increase, which ranges from 2%-5% for UPSs and 10-20% on replacement batteries and battery systems, took effect at the end of last month and impacts the company's popular Back-UPS[R], Smart-UPS[R] and Symmetra[R] products.

"The cost of lead has tripled in the last year, and, while APC-MGE has aggressively worked to minimize this impact on customers, we unfortunately no longer can absorb these costs," said Scott Olsen, director of global price management at APC-MGE. "We will continue our cost containment efforts and leverage our purchasing power to minimize the impact of battery price increases in the future."
