The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. Leads the Charge Against Breast Cancer™
Business Wire, Oct 10, 2007
YORK, Pa. -- The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT) has proven to be a leader in the fight against breast cancer and is pleased to announce the launch of Charge Against Breast Cancer[TM] to all its locations. Every time a customer uses their proprietary card in any of the Bon-Ton stores, a donation will be made to support breast cancer research. This initiative, as well as the Pink Shop merchandise sales and 1% of our sales during our October promotion from October 10 to October 22, is projected to raise $600,000 this year. Five leading breast cancer research facilities are the on-going beneficiaries of these funds.
Customers can show their support for the fight against breast cancer by purchasing any Pink Shop item. Customers can choose from over 20 items, including a ladies "Hope" watch, a bracelet with a pink ribbon charm and a specially-designed, microfiber tee. All items are available for purchase in-store and several items are available online during the month of October.
"We are proud to launch a promotion that supports breast cancer research, which our customers are passionate about," said Bud Bergren, President and CEO of The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. "The funds raised through our Charge Against Breast Cancer program are helping to support important breast cancer research and, we believe we're contributing to help fight this disease."
In addition to offering customers a great shopping experience, Bon-Ton also supports its communities by promoting and raising money and awareness for non-profit organizations. Through The Bon-Ton Stores Foundation, the company is able to be a positive philanthropic corporate citizen, focusing on community health, youth and the economically disadvantaged with an ultimate goal to have a meaningful impact in its communities and business environment.
