Business Wire, Oct 15, 2007

Agreement with Subsidiary of Major Network Operator Marks Breakthrough into Middle East and Africa

ROYAL TUNBRIDGE WELLS, England -- Synchronica plc, (AIM: SYNC.LN), the mobile synchronisation and device management company, is pleased to announce that it has signed a contract with a subsidiary of one of the largest mobile operator groups in the Middle East and Africa region, to licence its Mobile Gateway and Mobile Manager Backup & Restore products.

Under the contract Synchronica will receive a licence fee of US$ 400,000 for 200,000 user licences for Synchronica Mobile Gateway 3.0, which offers subscribers push e-mail and contacts, calendar, task and notes synchronisation, as well as 100,000 licences for Synchronica Mobile Manager Backup & Restore product, which provides back-up and restore capability. Synchronica will also receive US$ 100,000 for professional services, customisation and implementation.

The subsidiary with more than 3 million subscribers is the first subsidiary of the wider group to license the Synchronica products. The group has more than 32 million subscribers and operates across 21 countries in the Middle East and Africa. This contract is Synchronica's first deal in the region, which according to Informa is the fastest growing mobile market in the world.*

Synchronica's Mobile Gateway has a unique "zero footprint" architecture, which requires no software installation behind the corporate firewall or on the handset, and can be used on both Smartphones and, more importantly, on mass market feature phones. Synchronica believes that this translates into a compelling advantage, in particular in emerging markets where the vast majority of devices are feature phones.

Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica said: "This deal marks another important breakthrough for Synchronica, and validates our strategy of targeting network operators in emerging markets, where mobile operators have the opportunity to make the mobile phone the primary device for accessing the Internet. This market is booming at present and Synchronica is very confident that this important step into the Middle East and Africa will be the first of many."
