AEGON/Transamerica Extends Sponsorship of Professional Golfer and 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson
Business Wire, Oct 15, 2007
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- AEGON and its affiliate Transamerica today announced a five-year agreement that extends their sponsorship of professional golfer and 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson. AEGON and Transamerica have been Johnson's primary sponsors since he joined the PGA Tour in 2004.
"AEGON and Transamerica have supported me since the start of my PGA Tour career. Without them, winning my first major would not have been possible," said 2007 Masters Champion, Zach Johnson. "I'm honored to be a part of the AEGON/Transamerica family and look forward to continuing to represent them on the PGA Tour as well as working together on our Birdies That Care initiative." Johnson and his wife, Kim, together with AEGON, founded Birdies That Care, a charitable program that raises funds each year for a worthy organization in Johnson's hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"We knew from the start that Zach had the drive, integrity, and skills of a champion and could not be prouder of his extraordinary success," said Pat Baird, President and Chief Executive Officer, AEGON USA, Inc. This year has been very impressive, with Johnson winning The Masters, AT&T Classic, and participating on the victorious United States President's Cup Team. Johnson is ranked eighth among PGA Tour money leaders, seventh in the FedEx Cup standings, and 14th in the official World Golf Ranking.
Under the terms of the five-year agreement, Johnson will continue to endorse AEGON and Transamerica by sporting their logos on his apparel. Johnson will also make appearances on behalf of the companies, lend his image to their "Power of Dreams" advertising campaign, and serve as an AEGON/Transamerica brand ambassador at national and international events.
"Our business is about people, and Zach Johnson is the kind of person we want to represent the AEGON companies. We believe he will continue to demonstrate just how far determination--and your dreams--can take you," Baird said.
