HOUSTON -- BMC Software today announced complete support of IBM's Information Management System (IMS) V10, delivering more than 30 highly effective, robust solutions designed to meet customers' needs in IMS transaction and database management systems - systems that are key to supporting mission critical business services.

The original database and transaction management system, IMS stores much of the data in the world, representing a very significant market. Banks, insurance companies, telecommunication providers, healthcare companies and other financial institutions are among those organizations that depend on BMC's IMS solutions to deliver their business services.
"We depend on IMS databases and systems to manage our core business application," said Robert Shannon, technical team lead of Bell Aliant. "As one of North America's largest regional communications providers, we cannot afford outages. BMC IMS products enable us to maintain the high level of service that our customers expect. The support that comes with BMC IMS products is second to none in the industry."
BMC continues to showcase innovation and product leadership with the introduction of BMC Log Analyzer for IMS. Providing industry first technology, BMC Log Analyzer helps to quickly pinpoint the root cause of IMS problems and provides audit information, helping customers meet compliance regulations. This solution also allows an auditor to set up specific parameters to identify when data was changed, who changed it and what was changed. Today, companies must search through thousands of log entries to find this information. With BMC Log Analyzer, only the records that match the criteria selected will appear, thereby reducing the time it takes to find the root cause of a problem from days to minutes.
Another hallmark of its industry leadership is that BMC offers the only integrated GUI to view IMS databases and systems, providing customers with the ability to manage all their complex and dispersed IMS systems and databases through one simple-to-use interface - the BMC Console GUI for IMS.
"At Duke University Medical Center, the mainframe is a critical piece of our clinical infrastructure," said Todd Blandford, senior manager IT - Infrastructure Services for Duke Health Technology Solutions. "We use IMS databases to support mission critical applications, and we use the BMC IMS Utilities to assist us in managing the availability, performance and recoverability of these applications. We are confident that when we are ready to migrate to the next release of IMS, the BMC Utilities will be ready."
Included with BMC's support of IMS V10 are new releases of BMC Delta Plus and BMC Delta Plus Virtual Terminal. BMC Delta Plus products distill 20 years of experience in creating reliable and robust solutions for system definition changes, enabling modifications to IMS systems with no outages. The products are also completely automated, fully secured, auditable and enable coordinated changes across IMS systems.
BMC has been providing IMS solutions for 25 years and has more than 800 IMS customers worldwide. The new features and added tools in BMC IMS solutions offer customers the latest advancements in data accessibility.
"New technologies, coupled with growing data and the need for continuous availability, increase the complexity of managing IMS applications and systems," said Ralph Crosby, chief technology officer of BMC's Mainframe Service Management business unit. "With this release BMC enables customers to easily manage complex IMS environments with integrated tools that ensure continuous availability, simplified database and system administration and maximum performance."
BMC is releasing all IMS products with IMS V10 support in December 2007.
