Quest's New Offerings Enable Fine-Grained Delegation of Privilege Access and Automated Auditing

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. & PITTSBURGH -- Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT) and PassGo Technologies have entered into an OEM agreement for world-wide distribution of two products to manage and audit privileged access to Unix systems. Unix Privilege Manager and SafeKeeping, PassGo's flagship compliance and access management products, will be offered under the Quest brand. These products broaden Quest's portfolio of solutions to help heterogeneous organizations simplify identity management.

"Customers managing complex, heterogeneous IT environments face the challenge of properly controlling and accounting for privileged administrator access across multiple Unix and Linux systems, as well as Windows," said Jackson Shaw, senior director, product management, Quest Software. "While Windows offers built-in options for defining and limiting access to sensitive systems, Unix administrative access is 'all or nothing.' These new products offer automated, workable solutions that balance the need for access with the requirement for security and auditability."

Quest Privilege Manager for Unix provides fine-grained delegation of root authorization for Unix and Linux systems. It also delivers comprehensive auditing of keystrokes, system logs and activities associated with the root privilege. The product's automated collection and audit of Unix event logs eases data collection for audit purposes and helps deter unauthorized activity.

Quest SafeKeeping facilitates the request, approval, issuing and tracking of secure one-time-use passwords for administrative activities on any system or application requiring elevated privileges. The product currently covers Unix and Linux while support for Windows, mainframe and business applications is planned. SafeKeeping enforces separation of duties policies while automating the entire process - from request, through approval and activity auditing.

"We see this venture as a tremendously exciting opportunity for both companies," said John Rainford, chief executive officer, PassGo Technologies. "We share Quest's vision to deliver a combination of products that provide a truly comprehensive solution to the problem of managing and auditing privileged access, not just in the Unix and Linux world, but across Windows as well."

Quest Privilege Manager for Unix and Quest SafeKeeping play integral parts in Quest's overall simplifying identity management offerings, which include the industry-leading Vintela Authentication Services product. Vintela Authentication Services extends the authentication, single sign-on, and compliance benefits of Microsoft Active Directory to Unix, Linux and Mac systems and applications. These new offerings provide even more identity management functionality for those same Unix and Linux platforms.

To help customers take advantage of this strategic relationship, both Quest and PassGo are offering a competitive replacement program for customers that are currently using Symark's PowerBroker and PowerKeeper products.
