Trusted Computing Group Members Elect Fujitsu Limited, Seagate Technology and Wave Systems to Board of Directors to Guide Safer Computing

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Members of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) have elected representatives from Fujitsu Limited, Seagate Technology and Wave Systems Corp. to the organization's board of directors. Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is an open industry standards organization whose specifications help vendors build products that let users protect critical data and information across a variety of devices and platforms.

The new board members have been elected to a one-year term and join board members from AMD, HP, IBM, Infineon, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft and Sun. The board provides guidance to the organization's work groups, which create specifications for hardware and software to protect PCs and other computing devices from attacks and to help prevent data loss and theft.

TCG's specifications to enable the trusted enterprise include those for the Trusted Platform Module, a set of security building blocks for storage of protected passwords, digital keys and certificates to enable authentication, prevention of malware and assurance of identity. Some fifty million enterprise PCs and servers have shipped with TPMs. Other TCG specifications include Trusted Network Connect network access control, Mobile Trusted Module for mobile phone security, and Trusted Storage specifications to protect data on storage devices, including hard drives, flash, tape, and optical devices. The group has work groups addressing trusted peripherals, infrastructure and software as well.
