Printronix Extends Its Leadership in Printer Management Software with Introduction of PrintNet Enterprise Suite
Business Wire, Oct 16, 2007
With the new expanded solution, users gain total control and visibility over worldwide printer operations
IRVINE, Calif. -- Printronix Inc. (NASDAQ:PTNX), a global leader of integrated supply-chain printing solutions, today released an enhanced version of the industry's most robust printer management software solution. The new PrintNet Enterprise Suite provides supply-chain flexibility by giving customers total visibility and control of worldwide print operations from a single PC.
"PrintNet Enterprise set the benchmark in Web-based printer management, and it now is more robust than ever," said Andy Scherz, director, product marketing, Printronix. "Whatever the situation demands, you have total remote control of your printers. Change printer settings, update firmware, download fonts or even lock out local operators from making changes. With the new PrintNet Enterprise Suite, we have introduced a host of additional features and a simplified user interface. IT managers now can harness the full power of intelligent printing like never before, lowering company's operational costs, saving time and boosting productivity."
The PrintNet Enterprise Suite extends its capabilities with the addition of three powerful features:
* The Auto-ID Data Manager keeps an automatic record of all bar code and RFID information encoded by the printer. Using this information, organizations can create compelling records and audit trials of thermal bar code and radio frequency identification (RFID) tag quality, as well as verifying data encoded on RFID tags easily.
* The Automatic Job Capture feature helps debug host and network-related issues quickly by electronically capturing a copy of the print job exactly as the printer receives it.
* The Data Stream Adapter enables users to implement new requirements on legacy software without touching a line of legacy code. As an example, users can re-position or resize text or bar codes easily to meet new conformance mandates.
Retaining the best features of PrintNet Enterprise, PrintNet Enterprise Suite carries forward powerful features, such as the Instant Alert function, which notifies operators instantly when a printer situation demands immediate attention. Designated responders receive these alerts according to class of alert via e-mail, pager or mobile phone. Even if the printer cannot respond due to loss of power or connection, the PrintNet Enterprise Suite solution still will generate an instant alert. PrintNet Enterprise Suite also features a remote front panel emulation that allows remote experts to diagnose and correct printer issues quickly.
In addition, the solution supports Printronix's extensive family of line matrix, thermal bar code, RFID and fanfold laser printers, and is "future-proofed" to accept new printer models and technologies. PrintNet Enterprise Suite is standard as part of any PrintNet Enterprise wireless or 10/100-Base T option and is available today from Printronix through its worldwide distribution and reseller network.
