Business Wire, Oct 18, 2007
NEWARK, N.J. -- Human Resource Executive([R]), a leading business magazine, has named Sharon C. Taylor, senior vice president of Corporate Human Resources at Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU), to its 2007 Honor Roll. The HR Honor Roll recognizes HR leaders who have made outstanding contributions to their organizations and who exemplify the increasingly strategic role of human resources in business today. Taylor, one of five winners, was honored recently at an awards ceremony held at the University Club of Chicago.
The judging committee, which included senior HR practitioners, selected the winners based on their ability to handle significant challenges in the HR field, their role in establishing the HR function as an integral part of their organization, their management skills and their overall contribution to the HR profession.
"This award isn't so much about me as it is about the changes that Prudential's HR function had to make to meet the needs of our rapidly changing company," Taylor said when accepting her award. "It is especially gratifying to be recognized because it validates that, in spite of tough decisions we have made along the way, we have served Prudential and its 40,000 employees well. While I may be at the podium, I am so pleased to share this recognition with my hardworking, dedicated team of Human Resources and Community Resources professionals."
David Shadovitz, the magazine's editor-in-chief, praised Taylor, who also has responsibility for Prudential's philanthropic activities, for introducing innovative consumer-directed health programs designed to help employees take a greater role in managing their health care. He also cited Taylor for implementing an employee stock purchase plan, enhancing work-life programs related to back-up child and elder care, and fostering an inclusive work environment.
