COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Software AG, a global leader in business infrastructure software, today opened its first annual SOA Governance Summit, which is taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark. This sold-out event brings together over two hundred thought leaders and practitioners from around the world to share strategies and best practices for implementing sustainable and scaleable approaches for the lifecycle management and governance of service-oriented architecture (SOA). Other key participants include featured presenter Gartner Research Director L. Frank Kenney as well as executives from key partners, including CapGemini, AmberPoint, Mega, iLOG, Parasoft, QualiWare and alfabet.

A unique focus of the inaugural event is in helping delegates fully capitalize on the strength and diversity of the Software AG customer base, which encompasses users of two industry-leading solutions for SOA governance, the CentraSite Enterprise Edition and the CentraSite Governance Edition (formerly known as the webMethods Infravio X-Registry). With each product representing a distinct point-of-entry to SOA, customers can take advantage of the adoption roadmap best suited for their specific business objectives. Also taking place during the conference is the inaugural meeting of a new interoperability initiative being sponsored by Software AG.

"With SOA emerging as a top-line business imperative, most enterprises are seeking ways to avoid the 'pay now, gain later' model of adoption," said Ivo Totev, chief marketing officer, Software AG. "A strategic approach, backed by a rigorous and tested methodology, is still required. However, by aligning adoption with near-term needs, enterprises can begin to benefit immediately from their implementation. As a result, expanding upon the success of early adaptors as a means for delivering faster and more assured payback is a key focus of our first annual conference."

Delegates to the conference include the CIO's, enterprise architects and business strategists responsible for their organization's SOA initiatives. During the summit, they will have the chance to learn from the successes of early adopters, such as BT and Credit Suisse, who are paving the way towards long-term, sustainable success with SOA. Other featured presentations include Gartner's Kenney sharing the research firm's framework for enterprise governance of service-oriented architecture. Delegates will also enjoy the chance to hear from Software AG executives as they share their insight on the future of SOA, upcoming product releases, and new strategies for addressing the change management requirements associated with enterprise adoption.

The summit will also play host to the charter meeting of a new interoperability initiative, which is designed to simplify the implementation of federated governance models. Building upon the work already undertaken by CentraSite and Infravio partners, this new program is designed to address the gaps in interoperability that exist within current industry standards. These efforts will be supported by the SOA Governance Interoperability Testing Center, which is hosted by Software AG.

"Software AG is committed to lowering the threshold for successful end-user adoption of SOA governance. This is a major focus of our recent product enhancements," said Miko Matsumura, vice president, Office of the CTO, Software AG. "As we continue to bring our two current offerings together, users can expect to benefit from further enhancements reflecting the unique strengths and heritage of each product set. Fostering a continuing dialogue between these users ensures that all of our customers are fully-prepared to capitalize on these opportunities to streamline, automate and extend their governance practices."

Those that were unable to participate in Software AG's first annual SOA Governance Summit are encouraged to attend Integration World 2007, taking place November 5--7th in Orlando, Florida. During this sixth annual conference, attendees will not only be able to explore the latest thinking around SOA governance, but engage in similar conversations regarding business integration, legacy modernization and business process management. The program will be highlighted by a number of visionary keynotes and will include more than forty additional track session presentations.
