CompTIA Tech Career Compass Boasts New Look and Improved Navigation
Business Wire, Oct 22, 2007
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) today announced that its Tech Career Compass (TCC), an online resource for careers in technology, has received an updated look and is now easier to navigate.
The CompTIA TCC promotes and provides tools for skills development and career advancement. Information technology (IT) professionals, employers, educators, advisors, and curriculum developers use the TCC as a one-stop source for research, recommendations and consulting regarding IT career choices.
As of its recent re-launch, users have seen refreshed standards researched by the Global Service Exchange (GSX). The information is kept current through formal research studies and analyses by IT leaders, technology experts, and advisory groups.
"The old TCC was more like a dictionary, with no direction assistance," said Neill Hopkins, vice president of skills development, CompTIA. "The new TCC offers a more flexible tool to enable users to use it easily, and to find what they need."
Users experience a reorganized and improved TCC with "super concentrations" in administration, development, and integration. These three areas make it easier to connect a job role to any one of the concentrations with clear, step-by-step directions. The update also keeps the TCC flexible across different industries and different countries.
Originally launched in 2003, the TCC began as an initiative of the U.S. Department of Labor to help develop well-skilled IT workforce certification programs. The TCC hosts approximately 7,000 visitors every month. There are no fees or membership required for using the TCC, available at http://tcc.comptia.org.
The TCC is sponsored by Career Voyages, Cisco, O-Net Online, and Ricoh.
