St. Christopher's Affiliates with Temple University Health System

DALLAS -- Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:THC) announced today a 25-year affiliation agreement between St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and Temple University Health System. St. Christopher's, an 170-bed acute care hospital located in Philadelphia, will treat Temple University Children's Medical Center's inpatient pediatric and outpatient care patients. As part of the agreement, Temple University School of Medicine will conduct its clinical training program in pediatrics at St. Christopher's. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"We are delighted with this new affiliation with Temple University School of Medicine," said Stephen L. Newman, M.D., Tenet's chief operating officer. "The affiliation strengthens the educational environment at St. Christopher's and provides expanded clinical care for teaching medical students and residents. We look forward to working with Temple. St. Christopher's Hospital for Children will remain the primary pediatric education partner for Drexel University College of Medicine as we continue to provide quality medical education for tomorrow's pediatric specialists."

The company has been working with Temple for the past several months to complete this affiliation. As a result of the agreement, St. Christopher's will undergo a physical expansion that includes adding 18 additional beds and two new operating room suites at a cost of $3.5 million to accommodate caring for approximately 2,500 additional inpatient admissions and 1,500 outpatient visits.

In a separate but related move, St. Christopher's Hospital for Children also signed an agreement that extended its current affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine through 2037.
