Tekelec, HP, and BEA Systems to Demo 'IMS in a Box' at Fall VON
Business Wire, Oct 29, 2007
Tekelec Executive to Present at VON Solutions Theatre on NGN 2.0: The IMS Upgrade and on IMS Forum Panel
MORRISVILLE, N.C. -- Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), a leading developer of high-performance network applications for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, is featuring its IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) solution at Fall VON, Oct. 29-31, 2007, in Boston. The IMS demo is available in the Hewlett-Packard booth (#448).
Building on its commitment to open standards, the Tekelec TekCore Session Manager, a core call session control function (CSCF) platform, will participate in the Open IMS demonstration at Fall VON, interoperating with HP's OpenCall Home Subscriber Server (HSS), BEA Systems' WebLogic Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Server and applications from third-party independent software vendors (ISVs).
The IMS Demo in a Box environment is a portable, stand-alone system that is designed to be exhibited anywhere. The companies will demonstrate a number of IMS services from several leading IMS software vendors.
"We are excited to work with industry-leading companies, HP and BEA, to present the IMS in a Box demonstration," said Ronald de Lange, executive vice president, Global Product Solutions, Tekelec. "The solution is designed to enable organizations worldwide to accelerate the rollout of innovative services by delivering a truly open, tested and pre-integrated IMS environment."
Tekelec also will be featured in the Fall VON Solutions Theater. Vince Lesch, vice president, product marketing, will deliver a presentation, "NGN 2.0: The IMS Upgrade," on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Solutions Theater is located on the Expo Floor, booth # 1029.
The session addresses operator issues resulting from the growth and evolution of their next-generation network (NGN) voice over IP (VoIP) network. Lesch will discuss how an independent SIP signaling and session control framework can help operators gracefully scale their NGN, support multimedia services and lay the groundwork for the eventual migration to IMS.
Lesch also will participate on a panel, "The IMS Forum[R] Presentation of Results from its Third IMS Plugfest[TM]," in the Fall VON Solutions Theater, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The IMS Forum, the industry's only association dedicated to IMS application and service interoperability certification, will announce at the Fall VON show the results from its third IMS Plugfest[TM]. The IMS Forum Plugfests deliver interoperability for cost-effective (OPEX and CAPEX) "quadruple play" revenue-generating applications and services.
Prior to the VON demonstration, Tekelec participated in the IMS Forum's IMS Plugfest III interoperability test event held Oct. 15-19, 2007, at the University of New Hampshire IMS Interoperability Lab in Durham, N.H. The TekCore Session Manager was chosen for testing with products from some of the world's leading IMS vendors. TekCore was one of the reference CSCFs and SIP implementation platforms utilized for a series of SIP- and IMS-related interoperability tests at the IMS Plugfest III.
In addition to participating in the IMS Forum's Plugfests, Tekelec is conducting SIP and IMS interoperability testing as part of the SIP Forum SIPits, at the HP Experience Center in Richardson, Texas, and in operator trials.
