Q1 Labs Unveils QRadar SLIM: Simple Log and Information Management
Business Wire, Oct 30, 2007
Turnkey Logging Appliance Provides Seamless Upgrade Path to Full-featured SIEM for Threat and Compliance Management
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Q1 Labs, a leading network security management company, today announced the addition of its newest appliance, QRadar[TM] SLIM (Simple Log and Information Management) to its suite of products. QRadar SLIM provides a complete log management solution for organizations needing to collect, archive and analyze network, host and security event logs, but may not be ready to make the move to a more comprehensive Network Security Management (NSM) application. A fully scalable appliance, QRadar SLIM can be easily upgraded by license key to the full featured QRadar Network Security Management solution as an organization grows and requires additional network security management capabilities.
Log management is quickly becoming a requirement for organizations focused on delivering security best practices and meeting the specific auditing and reporting requirements of government regulations. QRadar SLIM, designed to help organizations respond quickly to these compliance mandates, provides a foundation for subsequent growth in their network and security monitoring architecture. No other logging product on the market can offer the same convenient and seamless upgrade to customers.
Recent industry analysis reflects the need for both logging and monitoring capabilities.
"The security information and event management (SIEM) market is now driven by a broader set of buyers who need the technology to quickly address audit issues but who also want to improve security monitoring capabilities. A solution that is optimal for the current market will support real-time collection and analysis of log data from host systems, security devices and network devices; will support long-term storage and reporting; will not require extensive customization; and will be easy to support and maintain." Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management, 1Q07, Gartner, May 1, 2007
Included within the QRadar SLIM appliance are a variety of robust features that allow IT managers to rapidly deploy a turnkey log management solution which offers scalable distributed log collection and archiving, reliable and tamper proof log storage, and simple policy-driven event correlation. In addition, QRadar SLIM offers effective, out-of-the-box compliance reporting packages for PCI, FISMA, SOX, GLBA and HIPAA.
"The launch of QRadar SLIM offers our customers the ability to quickly respond to compliance mandates for information collection while also providing them with a foundation for subsequent growth into a full threat management and compliance management architecture," said Tom Turner, vice president of marketing for Q1 Labs. "Ultimately we believe that log management is a stepping stone to more complete network and security management capabilities that all customers want and need. QRadar SLIM and the subsequent upgrade to full QRadar helps to deliver that in the simplest form possible."
