SDIO Hx Remains the Only Solution for OEMs Supporting Multiple Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) Slots with a Single Host Controller

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- BSQUARE (NASDAQ:BSQR) today announced the availability of SDIO Hx version 1.2, the newest release of its ultra-high-performance software stack for Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices and currently the only SDIO software for these operating systems that enables OEMs to support multiple SDIO slots with a single host controller. Offering 802.11g Wi-Fi throughput speeds of up to 13 Mbps, the new release supports Windows CE 6.0 and Windows Mobile 6, as well as earlier versions of both operating systems. In addition, it supports Secure Digital host controller circuitry in twice as many embedded application processors as before, including Freescale, Marvell, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments processors. As a result, a much broader range of device OEMs can now benefit from its performance advantages.

By supporting multiple SDIO slots with a single host controller for select application processors, SDIO Hx enables OEMs to save bill of materials costs while minimizing the footprint of the SDIO circuitry. In addition, the product supports devices with up to 32-GB SDHC (SD 2.0 High Capacity) memory cards, as well as devices with a 1-GB MultiMediaCard. Supported operating systems include Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and 5.0 and Windows Mobile 6 and 5.32.

SDIO Hx version 1.2 supports sample drivers for host controllers resident in the following processors:
