Business Wire, Oct 30, 2007
EDISON, N.J. -- StrikeForce Technologies (OTCBB:SKFT), a company that specializes in the prevention of identity theft, today announced the release of its GuardedID[R] keystroke encryption software for Mozilla's Firefox web browser (version 1.30).
"This is a major release for us," says Ram Pemmaraju, CTO of StrikeForce, the award-winning Firefox Web browser is used by tens of millions of people worldwide. Firefox users can now go to our website at www.guardedid.com and download a free 30-day trial version of GuardedID. The latest September 2007 statistics from www.w3schools.com shows that Mozilla's Firefox browser is now used by 35.4% of internet users, up 8.1% from September 2006; Microsoft's Internet Explorer is still the most popular browser with 57.2% of users.
Global Internet usage is skyrocketing; according to www.internetworldstats.com, 18.9% (1.24 billion) of the world's 6.5 billion people have taken to the Internet, but then again, so have the cyber thieves. Identity theft is now the fastest growing crime in the world. In the US alone, losses topped $53Billion last year, with over 10 million victims.
Cyber crime is big business, organized crime rings around the world depend heavily on cyber crime and Identity Theft. Criminals of all kinds are banding together to commit online fraud. They even have websites dedicated to selling keyloggers, spyware, viruses and trojans.
The global problem is that all browsers, operating systems and anti-virus programs have vulnerabilities, and the thieves are masters at exploiting them. Their goal is simple, exploit vulnerable systems and implant keyloggers on them. An undetected keylogger has but one mission, copy all keystrokes i.e. usernames, banking passwords, SSN#'s, DOB's, credit card numbers and all other personal and financial information.
GuardedID takes a proactive approach to stopping keylogging programs by encrypting every keystroke the instant you type them. Then GuardedID delivers those encrypted keystrokes directly to your web browser through its own secure and unique channel. GuardedID bypasses the typical places that keyloggers reside, thereby helping to eliminate your vulnerability to keylogging attacks. GuardedID is designed as a toolbar for your Microsoft IE or Firefox browser, always on when your browser is launched.
The need for keystroke encryption has never been greater. It's no secret that encryption is the best form of security, that's why Government Agencies have been using it for years. StrikeForce has designed GuardedID's keystroke encryption technology so that consumers, banks, corporations and ISPs can now start to encrypt each keystroke the instant a user launches his or her browser to navigate the Internet. We have a saying at StrikeForce that "Identity Theft prevention starts at your fingertips," says George Waller, EVP of StrikeForce.
"Releasing a Firefox version of GuardedID, which already works on Microsoft IE, is very important to us, giving us a total opportunity to sell to 92.6% of the worlds browser population," says Mark L. Kay, CEO of StrikeForce."
