Business Wire, Oct 4, 2007
PARIS -- Regulatory News:
Technip (Paris:TEC) (ISIN:FR0000131708) has been reselected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Indices for 2007/2008. This is the sixth consecutive selection for Technip, which has been a member since 2003. Within the "oil equipment and services" industry sector, Technip confirms its leading position, having achieved the best performances in terms of sustainable development within a universe of 47 companies.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), first introduced in 1999, is one of the most widely recognized international benchmarks for assessing a company's sustainable development performance.
The DJSI compares a company's performance to those of its peers, in order to identify best practices across the economic, social and environmental dimensions of corporate sustainable development.
Technip has been selected by DJSI for 2007/2008 as member of the following indices:
* The DJSI WORLD Index which includes 318 global companies covering 57 sectors of activity. Technip has been selected as a member for the fifth consecutive year and is the only European oil and gas services sector company included in the index.
* The DJSI STOXX Index which covers European companies only. Technip has been a component since 2003.
"Technip has made sustainable development a core element in its activities. We are gratified to see our commitment recognized with this new selection", stated Thierry Pilenko, the Group's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
With a workforce of 22,000 people, Technip ranks among the top five corporations in the field of oil, gas and petrochemical engineering, construction and services. The Group is headquartered in Paris.
The Group's main operating centers and business units are located in France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, the USA, Brazil, Abu-Dhabi, China, India, Malaysia and Australia.
In support of its activities, the Group manufactures flexible pipes and umbilicals, and builds offshore platforms in its manufacturing plants and fabrication yards in France, Brazil, the UK, the USA, Finland and Angola, and has a fleet of specialized vessels for pipeline installation and subsea construction.
