Opalis Announces Strongest Quarter Ever

Business Wire,  Oct 9, 2007

IT Process Automation Crosses the Chasm With Customer and Partner Adoption

TORONTO -- Opalis Software, Inc., the Run Book Automation (RBA) market leader, today announced completion of the biggest revenue and bookings quarter to date for its third quarter, which ended September 30, 2007. The strong quarter validates the widespread market demand for IT process automation solutions and customer readiness to reap the benefits of improved IT service delivery and business agility within BSM, ITIL and other industry models.

"Q3 was our strongest quarter ever, with significant wins and add-on sales in companies including Interpolis in the Netherlands, H.J. Heinz in the United Kingdom, Cedacri in Italy, Parel in France, Amerigas, Disney, Liberty Mutual, Freddie Mac and Solectron in the United States, and Manulife in Canada, as Run Book Automation has essentially crossed the chasm to mainstream adoption in enterprises worldwide," said Todd DeLaughter, CEO and president for Opalis. "We've also displaced BMC's Service Automation product, formerly known as RealOps, at several large commercial sector accounts, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, as well as two large U.S. Government agencies. In an environment of industry consolidation, customers turned to Opalis because we are committed to providing proven technology and successful implementations across their heterogeneous, large-scale IT infrastructures."

Technology Innovations Drive Customer Adoption in Virtualized and Non-Virtualized Environments

During the quarter Opalis was named winner of the "Best of TechEd Awards 2007" in the Management category. Opalis also announced several key technology innovations, including Opalis Process Catalog for Virtualization, which gives the Global 2000 a market-leading solution for optimizing end-to-end management of virtualized environments, helping IT organizations put virtualization into production, control virtual management costs and improve service quality.

Customers Turn to Opalis for Open, Interoperable Solution

Among other customer wins, Opalis was selected by the largest government revenue entity in Europe and one of the largest managed service providers in the world who sought solutions for enterprise IT process automation of ITIL best practices that could be easily implemented and integrated with any number of systems management tools.

"Enterprise IT managers speak of their heterogeneous environments in terms of both the devices and the software tools they use to manage the environment. They already have a multitude of systems management tools from a variety of vendors, and need a solution that can orchestrate processes across their existing heterogeneous environments," DeLaughter continued.

"Our customers have demanded an RBA solution that doesn't force them to rip and replace their existing management tools - preferring a solution which works across and integrates seamlessly with the tools in place, thereby protecting their investments. They contrast this with heterogeneous statements from most of the big management vendors, which eventually leads to the position that a customer must buy the vendor's entire suite to manage their hardware devices and software environments. We give customers freedom to select best of breed tools and integrate processes across those tools - enabling the customer to keep control and have more flexibility within their own IT ecosystem," concluded DeLaughter.

Key Global Partnerships Expand Opalis' Reach Worldwide

Opalis signed major partnerships this quarter with Fujitsu and Logicalis in the United Kingdom, and Maryville and TuringSMI in North America. These world-class partners and Opalis' existing resellers are proficient at helping customers drive immediate cost savings and service level improvements through IT process automation. These new partners join Opalis' Partner Advantage Program, which includes industry leaders such as BladeLogic, BMC, CA, Cognos, EMC Legato, EMC SMARTS, HP, IBM, Microsoft, NetIQ, Oracle, Symantec and VMware.
