Broadview Networks Broadens VoIP Services with Acme Packet Session Border Controllers

Business Wire, Sept 10, 2007

Leading Northeast/Mid-Atlantic provider of business VoIP services uses Acme Packet NextSBC Reassurance Program to deliver hosted VoIP services and VoIP peering

BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Acme Packet[R] (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that Broadview Networks has selected Acme Packet's Net-Net[R] session border controllers (SBCs) as it expands its business-focused VoIP network and services. To facilitate deployment, Broadview is using the Acme Packet NextSBC Reassurance Program through Acme Packet's integration partner, Solunet, an industry-leading value-added solutions provider. Broadview has chosen Acme Packet's SBCs to provide the critical security and control features Broadview requires for both its hosted IP services and VoIP peering with other service providers.

Through Acme Packet's NextSBC Reassurance Program, Broadview has rapidly deployed Acme Packet SBCs to deliver a working solution with the requisite features to support its VoIP applications. Broadview Networks' deep suite of hosted VoIP solutions for small and mid-size businesses leverages Acme Packet's Net-Net SBCs at points of presence (POPs) in both New York City and Philadelphia. Acme Packet's Net-SAFE[R] security architecture provides denial of service (DoS) attack protection, topology hiding and access control, ensuring Broadview's service availability.

Due to the Net-Net SBC's rich feature set and field-proven interoperability with other core VoIP network elements, Broadview minimized costs and time associated with launching its production services. The Net-Net SBC also maximizes Broadview's service reach by allowing VoIP calls to traverse existing data firewall/NAT devices at Broadview's customers' premises. Acme Packet's flexible call admission control policies on the Net-Net SBC are key features in enabling Broadview to assure high service quality.

"Broadview Networks is committed to delivering technology solutions that enhance customers' communications infrastructure, security and productivity," said Kenneth Shulman, chief information and technology officer at Broadview Networks. "As we extend our leadership position by meeting the business market's growing demand for advanced VoIP applications, the reliability and enhanced security Acme Packet's SBC adds to our network strengthens our already robust hosted VoIP offerings."

"SBCs are a critical component in service providers' efforts to protect their VoIP networks and exercise control over their interactive IP communication services," said Seamus Hourihan, vice president of marketing and product management for Acme Packet. "Broadview is using our Net-Net SBCs to deliver a high-quality service to its business customers and lower operational costs via VoIP peering with other operators."
