Intransa Executives to Speak on Green IT at Infrastructure Management World

Business Wire, Sept 10, 2007

CEO Bud Broomhead, VP Customer Satisfaction Chris Harvey to Speak on: Saving CAPEX & OPEX With 10GbE Consolidation

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Intransa, the global leader of scalable, network-centric IP storage solutions, today announced that Bud Broomhead, company CEO and Chris Harvey, vice president customer satisfaction will be presenting at Storage Network World's Infrastructure Management World Conference on Wednesday, September 12. The two executives are at the forefront of the growing movement toward a Green IT infrastructure, and will discuss how consolidation with Intransa's 10GbE IP network storage not only can reduce electrical consumption and floor space, but also cut financial operational and capital expenditures.

The presentation takes place at 11:30 a.m. on September 12 at the Infrastructure Management World conference, held at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona. Intransa will also be exhibiting its technology at the event, in booth G7.

"As a member of The Green Grid, Intransa is committed to being a leader in reducing the environmental impact of IT appliances," stated Broomhead. "Customers are able to get the ultimate utilization of their storage, without the waste of traditional 'fat provisioned' systems thanks to our DynaStac Thin Provisioning application that comes standard on all StorStac Systems. And, with 10GbE customers no longer have to choose between low cost and scalable IP storage or faster but more complex and costly Fibre Channel SANs. Intransa's IP network storage offers all the benefits of Fibre Channel SANs, including comparable performance."

The vendor-agnostic presentation the Intransa executives will deliver to Infrastructure Management World attendees will discuss other savings offered by scalable IP storage. SATA drives use about 50 percent power per terabyte of their less dense, more expensive Fibre Channel equivalents. By deploying a consolidation solution based on a scalable IP SAN up to 70 percent reduction can be achieved in floor space, heating and cooling. And, Intransa's own solutions are priced at about one third the cost of comparable Fibre Channel SAN solutions, for further savings.

"IP SANs can significantly reduce power consumption, floor space use, and both heating and cooling in comparison to direct attached storage or a Fibre Channel SAN, and it's very important in order to continue to create a positive environmental impact," commented Harvey. "By deploying Intransa's scalable IP SAN customers can also save significant money without giving up performance, capacity or reliability - and the result is what's good for the environment is also good for the IT budget."

Intransa's customer-proven IP network storage solutions, shipping around the world since 2003, are ideal for IT consolidation. Intransa's StorStac System, which scales from as little as 4 to over 1,000 terabytes of highly available, RAID-protected storage, is the first storage to be certified with 10GbE interfaces by Microsoft. The certification, with Exchange 2007 through the Microsoft ESRP program, demonstrated performance better than more expensive and complex Fibre Channel 2 and 4Gb SAN storage units deployed in many legacy IT environments, with a demonstration system supporting 11,000 users. Intransa IP storage systems are also certified with VMware, the leader in consolidation.

VMware is the industry leader in virtualization. Intransa storage has also been certified with VMware's 3.01 and 3.02 ESX Server Operating Systems, and in turn is largely recognized as the leader in IP SAN enterprise storage with 1GbE, 2GbE and 10GbE interface support delivering up to 3,000MB/second system throughput.

Intransa is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, and has been a member of VMware's Technology Alliance Partner Program since 2006. The company is a leader in IP storage technology, demonstrated through its membership in The Green Grid, the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), and the Security Industry Association (SIA), among other forward thinking organizations.
