Ohio TAPPI, Appleton Papers Host Project Management Workshop
Business Wire, Sept 17, 2007
WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio -- A three-day Project Management Workshop on "Project Initiation & Scoping" will be offered October 22-24, 2007 in West Carrollton, Ohio (Cincinnati-Dayton area.) The workshop is sponsored by Ohio TAPPI and hosted by Appleton Papers.
This workshop studies the processes involved with initiating and scoping a project following the Project Management Institute (PMI) guidelines. The PMI guidelines are the most widely used project management tools and techniques in the world. Online registration is available at www.setappi.org; attendees can save $100 by registering before October 1.
Attendees will learn to ask and answer questions like, "Are the right projects being started? Are they completing on time and on schedule? Do they support the strategic goals of the corporation?" A recent study revealed that more than 50% of all projects end in total failure, and less than 7% of all projects meet the "triple constraint" claims set when the project was given final approval. Too many projects are started without really knowing what the final results should be - the "ready-shoot-aim" principle.
Experts outline twenty-three processes and hundreds of tasks required to take a project from the back of napkin to approval by the board of directors - including the Chart Document, work breakdown schedule, cost estimate, and risk management plan. This comprehensive workshop will cover all of these and more, while providing 24 PDHs (Professional Development Hours.)
Late project delivery, higher project costs, and missed scopes all have the same results - lower return on investment for the project (the stockholders don't like this), missed opportunities for the business (the competition does like this), and damaged reputations (not career enhancing). To register for the Project Management: Project Initiation & Scoping Workshop, or for more information, visit www.setappi.org or email Dwight Husband at dhusband@FBC-LLC.com.
