Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Selects Pegasystems as Strategic BPM Vendor of Choice
Business Wire, Sept 18, 2007
Service Excellence and Market Growth Initiatives to be Powered By SmartBPM
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Pegasystems (NASDAQ: PEGA), the leader in Business Process Management (BPM), today announced that it has been selected as the strategic BPM vendor of choice for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Inc. (BCBSMA). Building upon its success in using Pegasystems to streamline sales quoting and enrollment for the Individual Healthcare Reform Initiative (Ch. 58), BCBSMA will deploy Pegasystems' SmartBPM[R] Suite for its Account Acquisition and Implementation (AA&I) project to optimize member enrollment and on-boarding processes for large accounts.
Founded 70 years ago, BCBSMA is recognized for providing superior customer service to 3 million members in Massachusetts. The company has launched the AA&I project as part of a larger initiative to extend its differentiated service to prospective members in their initial experiences with BCBSMA as they evaluate health coverage options. In this initiative, Pegasystems SmartBPM will be used to automate functions across sales, enrollment and fulfillment activities to optimize the process from issuing a coverage quote to providing ID cards for new large account plan members. This will provide BCBSMA with greater capabilities for speedy, personalized, multi-channel service to sales prospects and new members.
"Our member service excellence vision is a business tenet that permeates our organization across multiple projects both current and envisioned. We needed a solution that would enable us to meet today's requirements while also building for future needs as well," said Tim O'Brien, Senior Vice President for Sales at BCBSMA. "Pega provided the ability to help us realize our near-term business objectives of improving workflow and of enhancing our existing business processes with the ability to meet the future demands of our AA&I components."
BCBSMA selected Pegasystems SmartBPM Suite, including its Healthcare Payer solution framework which is specifically designed to provide payers with the foundation for rapidly deploying solutions across their organizations. The framework delivers core, reusable healthcare elements and HIPAA-components to automate and optimize key healthcare business processes. BCBSMA also selected Pegasystems Sales Process Manager[TM] (SPM) framework to help optimize its sales processes for improved productivity and growth.
"The rate of change in the healthcare industry has grown exponentially in the past few years spurred by increased consumer involvement, heightened service expectations and on-going market consolidation," said Elizabeth Hart, senior director, healthcare, Pegasystems. "Our SmartBPM with Build for Change[R] technology provides healthcare organizations like BCBSMA with new capabilities to optimize their current business and maximize opportunities for future growth. We are delighted that they have selected our technology to help drive service excellence to new levels, creating a real difference in the lives and health of our neighbors."
