Mintz Levin's Public Finance Section Expands Scope with Tax-Exempt Bond Controversy Resolution Practice

IRS Enforcement, Public Finance, Securities and White Collar Litigation Team to Offer Specialized Expertise to Clients Facing Bond Audits and Reviews

BOSTON -- Recognizing a need for a multi-disciplinary approach to assisting clients with navigating the complexities of audits and reviews of tax-exempt bond transactions, the Public Finance Section of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. has established the Tax-Exempt Bond Controversy Resolution Practice Group.

The group, made up of attorneys from the firm's Public Finance, Securities and Litigation sections, will focus on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) audits of tax-exempt bond transactions.

"This practice group is about helping our clients reach a speedy and cost-effective resolution when they are facing scrutiny by the IRS and the SEC," said Richard H. Moche, Manager of the firm's Public Finance Section. The practice group is headed by Jeremy Spector, a Member in the firm's New York office and the Vice Chair of the ABA's Tax-Exempt Financing Committee and formerly the Chair of its IRS Enforcement Subcommittee. Maxwell D. Solet, who chairs the IRS Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities and a Member of the Public Finance practice, Peter Chavkin the head of the firm's White Collar Criminal and Corporate Investigative Practice, Jack Sylvia, a Member of the Securities Litigation practice and Mr. Moche, are also part of the new practice group.
