Mozilla Store Redesign is Another Winner for Nobox
Business Wire, Sept 5, 2007
Online Store Redesign is the Latest in a Series of Mozilla / Nobox Collaborations
MIAMI -- Mozilla rarely seeks support beyond the resources of its own highly-skilled and creative community. One notable exception has been their ongoing collaboration with Miami-based interactive agency, Nobox Marketing Group. Earlier this year Mozilla once again tapped Nobox, a 100% Hispanic-owned agency, to redesign its Mozilla Store (http://store.mozilla.org); this follows the highly successful Nobox redesign of Mozilla.com, launch in October of 2006 as well as Nobox marketing efforts on Firefox 2, which among other tactics involved the design and placement of multiple banners.

"We realized that a new design would be an essential part of our effort to re-launch the Mozilla Store; and, we had every confidence that Nobox would deliver exactly what was needed to capture the attention of our growing community," said Mozilla Creative Director John Slater. "Nobox creative talent and specialization in universal integrated marketing strategies have been key elements of our ongoing collaboration."
Nobox has succeeded in introducing friendlier and more welcoming design elements for the Mozilla Store; approachability, broader audience appeal, and establishing a stronger connection between design and navigation were crucial strategic components of the redesign -- the site's information architecture was also revamped and updated. The new look is fresh, fun and has a much looser feel. A textured style was introduced for the overall UI design, employing bits of torn notepaper with product sketches and hand written fonts. The redesign serves to also reemphasize Mozilla's community-based roots; one example was the introduction of a blog area, underscored with a top-level tab, for the community to comment on Store products. A new top-level Store tab is also featured on Mozilla.com; that is just one of many ways the new Mozilla Store will be marketed.
Nobox President Jayson Fittipaldi noted that his agency's approach to developing the redesign: "Considered a series of comprehensive aspects beyond the pure 'design shop' positioning; we wanted to build upon the overall branding and look we had previously created for Mozilla.com. A very close and fluid collaboration with Mozilla's creative team made this an especially gratifying experience for us all."
In his blog intothefuzz.com (8/16/07), John Slater affirms the very positive results of Nobox's redesign, "We wanted a design that looked great, but didn't feel like an overly slick e-commerce site, and they (Nobox) definitely delivered."
