Radio e Televisao de Portugal Goes Global With Intelsat

PEMBROKE, Bermuda -- Intelsat, Ltd., the world's leading provider of commercial satellite services, continues to set the pace for the globalization of content by distributing Radio e Televisao de Portugal (RTP) programming throughout the Americas, Europe and Africa.

The Portuguese public service broadcaster signed a multi-year, multi-transponder deal with Intelsat for standard definition transmission services of its programming via three Intelsat satellites. RTP will use the Intelsat 907 satellite located at 332.5oE for Africa distribution of both RTP Africa and RTP Internacional programming, the Intelsat 805 satellite located at 304.5oE for its RTP Internacional programming distribution in North, Central and South America and the Galaxy 28 satellite located at 89oW for DTH distribution in Brazil of its RTP Internacional programming.
