Stuart J. Birdt Joins The Bear Stearns Global Emerging Markets Equity Research Team

NEW YORK -- Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. today announced that Stuart J. Birdt has joined the Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Equity Research team to cover the telecommunications sector. Mr. Birdt, who has been ranked by Institutional Investor, has more than 20-years Wall Street experience-- nearly 15 of those as a telecom analyst. Mr. Birdt reports to Rowe Michels, Director of Global Emerging Markets Research in New York.

Stuart J. Birdt, a senior managing director, has covered telecommunications for nearly 15 consecutive years, most recently at Exane BNP Paribas in London where he was a senior European telecom analyst. Before that, he was head of European telecom equity research at Deutsche Bank in London. While there in 2002, he led his team to a Runner Up position in Institutional Investor's All-Europe Research Team survey for telecom services. Mr. Birdt also covered telecom at Bear, Stearns International Limited in London from 1997 through 2000 and for four years before that at Goldman Sachs International in London. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Dartmouth College.
